FUSED acoustic panels,
Low&Bonar presents; In4nite,
This collaboration initiated by Low&Bonar has been presented at Dutch Design Week 2017.
Ten designstudio's participated in this project, exploring the material Colback, a non-woven technical fibre designed and produced by Low&Bonar in Arnhem.
Colback is a material that is used in several products such as carpets and the automotive industries.
The material is never visible and mainly used because of its technical perfomences. In this project Mieke Lucia wanted to make Colback visible and show the aesthetics of the material. It is strong, lightweight and has an open structure, which are perfect ingredients to make acoustic solutions such as absorbing panels. By fusing Colback with a knitted scuba fabric it became a flowy and strong surface, which shows the aesthetics of the non-woven fibres.

FUSED colour research,
Colback is a technical material that is produced in shades of white, black and grey. For this project Mieke Lucia wanted to highlight the aesthetics of the material so colour couldn't be forgotten.
The bi-component yarn is available in various compounds like polyester or polypropylene. Experiments with colour show that all Colback compounds react different in the colouring process. The experiments are unpredictable
in its form and look inartificial, which is in contrast with the high technical material. This technique of colouring is used in the FLOW panels.
These panels are filled with shredded Colback fibres, made from the edge trim of the production. These lightweight colourful panels can easily be placed on walls and ceilings to absorb sound.
FLOW is availeble in various colours, click for current collection.
